Self-care is probably an activity you would think of doing outside of work. With back-to-back Zoom meetings, it can be hard to find time to take care of yourself. Nonetheless, self-care is essential. What has helped me most is scheduling self-care activities on my calendar throughout the workday. Whether it be a walk, lunch, or jamming out to music, your brain needs a break. to avoid sales fatigue, make time for self-care.
Sales is a mental game, and in order to perform at a high level, you need to prepare your mind. The first hour of your day sets the tone for the rest of your day. It is crucial that in this first hour that you allow your mind to wake up. I do not check social media as I’m waking up. Instead, I listen to my pump-up song and write in my journal. This allows me to collect my thoughts and prepare for the day ahead.
Let’s be honest, sales is stressful. I find myself exhausted at times from making cold calls. At times I get nervous. Breathing techniques have helped me stay centered and keep my cool under pressure. What I have found most helpful is breathing in for five seconds, holding my breath for five seconds, and then taking five seconds to exhale. I typically repeat this exercise until I feel calm. Breathing techniques are a simple practice that can make a huge difference.
